United Healthcare Launches Bangladesh’s First Robotic-Assisted Surgery Programme

Bangladesh’s healthcare sector marked a major milestone on 31 August 2026 as United Healthcare launched the country’s first robotic-assisted surgery programme at its advanced facility on Madani Avenue. The programme brings highly precise, minimally invasive surgical care closer to patients in Bangladesh, reducing the need to travel abroad for selected advanced procedures.
Since its launch, United Healthcare has successfully completed four robotic-assisted procedures: cholecystectomy, hysterectomy, pyeloplasty and thymectomy. The successful cases demonstrate the technology’s potential across a range of surgical disciplines.
Robotic-assisted surgery enables greater precision and enhanced visualisation for surgeons while supporting smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, less postoperative discomfort, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery for patients.
United Healthcare plans to expand the programme across cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, urology, general surgery, gynaecology and thoracic surgery.
The initiative reflects United Healthcare’s commitment to introducing advanced medical technology and strengthening access to specialised, world-class treatment within the country.
