United’s Tank Terminal being constructed at Anwara, Chittagong is the only Class 3 private fuel oil storage facility in Bangladesh that was built in strict adherence to the NFPA 30 and API 650 standards. The tank terminal is a sound facility equipped with proper fire detection and fighting systems and spillage prevention mechanism. The ships operated by United Shipping does not dispose any waste in the water. All the sludges are burnt in the incinerator. United’s specialized construction wing, Neptune Commercial, constructs projects with minimal interruption or interference to the existing natural habitat.

An embankment was built at the land port in Teknaf as prevention against soil erosion. The port was built without harming the natural forestation which remains as it is till date.

United emphasizes on designing power plants using the most advanced technology. The high efficiency engines reduces fuel consumption and use lean-burn technology that ensure complete combustion of the fuel. The impact on ambient air quality is kept to a minimum by using of stacks having heights that adhere to World Bank standards for power plants. Noise levels are kept within limits by using sandwich panels, silencers and building solid brick walls around the plant premises.

To reduce the emission level and fossil fuel consumption further, United has installed co-generation scheme in 3 of its large power plants at Dhaka EPZ, Chittagong EPZ and Ashuganj. The plants of UPGD produces steam by using Exhaust Gas Boilers. This steam produced, without any additional fossil fuel, is sold to industries with a requirement for quality steam, in the vicinity of the plants.

The 200 MW combined cycle, modular power plant is the first and till date the only one of its kind in Bangladesh. Each of the engines in the power plant are coupled with Waste Heat Recovery Boilers (WHRB) that produces steam upon being fired from the exhaust of the engines to produce 16.1 MW of additional electricity without using any additional fossil fuel, thereby reducing carbon footprints. This largest gas-fired Flexi-cycleTM has been such a successful environment friendly that all the upcoming plants of United is being replicated in this model using the concept of combined cycle modular.

Gunze United Ltd. does not house any captive power generation facility neither does it have any boiler for steam production. Both electricity and steam is supplied from its sister concern, UPGD’s DEPZ power plant located adjacent to it and hence is an industry that operates without burning any fossil fuels!

Situated on 27 acres of land on the banks of the Naaf River at the southernmost point of Bangladesh, this is a port of transit for goods between our country and Myanmar. Winning a tender in 2006 from Bangladesh Land Port Authority has enabled us to control operations and management of the port while also signing Concession Agreement and Land Lease Agreement with the same. Since then we have undergone both infrastructural and civil development of the area, including earth filling, boundary wall construction, making pontoons, warehouses, approach roads, a passenger jetty, cargo jetty and a rest house among other things. Its prime location enables efficient connections across Bangladesh, facilitated by inland vessel and road transportation networks. The terminal’s design, construction, and material selection adhere to the rigorous standards set forth by the API 650 code.

Originally established as Soya Products Bangladesh (SPBL), the facility has evolved into a state-of-the-art tank terminal, featuring a privately owned jetty equipped to accommodate seagoing vessels of up to 240 meters and 22,000 DWT.
